Christina McDougall founded Hoosier Farmers Markets. She combined her passion for local food, sustainable agriculture, relationship builidng and place-making with her knowledge of policy, nonprofit management, outreach and engagement, asset base community development and life-long learning. She brings with her 17 years of experience and a hunger for nitrate-free bacon.
Project Assistant (2016)
A Chicago native, Kahfii King completed her masters degree in public affairs with a concentration in urban sustainability. Kahfii hopes to develop and support sustainable, local food systems. She is the farmers’ market manager for The Market at Hague. She enjoys hanging out on Mass Ave with friends and drinking lots of hot herbal tea no matter the season.
Lauren Scharenbrock’s personal anthem is increasing healthy, fresh and local produce access and equity to individuals, families and communities. Her current role is as an AmeriCorps VISTA Program Coordinator with Fresh Bucks Indy–Central Indiana’s farmers market SNAP Double-Up program. A Wisconsin native, she cannot eat enough cheese.
Mike Herrick’s stints at local butcher shops has driven his passion for local food. His varied experiences in the food industry include packaging, sales, logistics and stocking. To him, providing customers knowledge so they can make confident informed decisions is the most important aspect of a growing a small business. Personal motto: Follow your passion and you’ll never work a day in your life.
Growing up on a farm, Mychaela Brandle knew exactly where and how her food was grown. She lived off the garden year round and was part of a CSA before the term was coined. Mychaela has transitioned from rural farm girl to urban homesteader. Life motto: “A little dirt don’t hurt”.
